Glacier International Airport to Glacier Park

You will be taking the historic Great Northern Empire Builder streamliner of the 1950s on an enthusiasts' trip from Glacier Park International Airport to Glacier Park.

As first web•TrainSim trialled the activity with just eight carriages behind the GN A-B-B-A set and had a gentle climb up the Pass at about 25-27 mph in notch 4. He's tested with ten carriages and that has worked satisfactorily so the consist in the activity is now made up of A-B-B-A loco set heading twelve carriages, including the full length dome car with passenger view.

As is usual, web•TrainSim has been testing in various weather conditions for variety.

Updated 24-Nov-03: Some more traffic has been added for additional interest and challenge. You'll have a wait at Java West for a couple of oncoming trains so have your thermos and sandwich in the cab when you depart.

This activity has been compiled into a zip file with Route Riter so you can see what you're files you need to install.

Rolling stock

All the following rolling stock is available from the Train-sim.com library. Hopefully web•TrainSim is correct with the Superliner coaches; check with ConBuilder and then use it to substitute other model Superliners if you receive any errors.

There are some loose consists of the web•TrainSim boxcars, but you can use ConBuilder to substitute your choice of rolling stock in running consists. Be careful, however, to keep the train lengths roughly the same as the original (i.e., don't increase a train length from, say, 50 wagons, to 100 wagons). Apart from perhaps not fitting on a siding, train speed will change with a heavier load and you could spend longer at any reds.
