Valence TER to Valence TGV and return

Our Z5600 is on the left. Headlights are switched on for driving from end #2. The Z5600 resting on the other line has been removed otherwise you can't return here later to get to the TER platform 1.

It's been a long day, not made easier with the heavy rain that's been falling for hours. Just as you pull up at the Valence TER platform, your conductor informs you that most passengers are refusing to leave the train and make the short walk in the rain down to the Valence TGV platform to catch their train to Marseille. After consultation with the Marseille train controller, you're given permission to move your train to platform 1 on the Valence TGV line, just below, then return to Valence TER platform 1.

This means you're going to have to do some reversing to get down to the TGV line. After the all-clear at the TER platform, continue forward, almost to the buffer stop, until the little white arrow disappears from your track monitor screen. Change to end #2 of your Z5600 (to save getting wet, just press "5"), reverse, turn on end #2's headlights (a second press of "H") and move off. You'll end up at the far end of the TGV main line before the second white arrow disappears from your track monitor.

Run down to end #1 and forward to Valence TGV platform 1 until the arrow disappears. While your passengers disembark, walk down to end #2 and reverse again until the next white arrow disappears. You can forward up to the TER line to do another reverse procedure to reach TER platform 1.

Both the conductor and controller have assured you that you'll be paid overtime for this extra work but they can't be sure you'll be given any time off if you catch the 'flu.

This activity can be downloaded from the webTrainSim downloads page.

Rolling stock

We're heading towards the reversing point to be able to get to Valence TGV platform 1. The resting 18-car TGV has been removed otherwise we can't reverse down line 2 to get back up to the TER line.
