BB 12000 sound files fixes |
|
![]() |
The sound files for Edouard Staniczek's BB 12000, bb12kv2.zip (10Mb, 28-Feb-03, from Train-sim.com) are missing folder path names to some of the Acela sounds that are used.
In WordPad, or your favourite Unicode text editor, open each SMS file in turn:
- XEleccab.sms
- XEleceng.sms, and
- XElecpas.sms
Scroll around a bit and you'll see that some of the Acela sound files are already prefixed by their folder path, namely ../../acela/sound/. Copy this string and paste it in front of those Acela WAV files that don't yet have it.
You'll see that the above folder path prefixes WAV files such as x_couple_auto1.wav and couple_auto1.wav; it's not required for these so delete the folder path because MSTS finds these WAVs in its own default Sound folder.
Note that if you test the BB12000 with ConBuilder, it will report that two WAVs are missing, XElec0.wav and XXElec0.wav. MSTS doesn't seem to mind missing sound files and will happily run without problems.

CC 65500 sound files fixes |

Pierre Gauriat's CC 65500 diesel-electric loco, cc655001.zip (4.6Mb, 11-Mar-03, from Train-sim.com) is missing some folder path names in the SMS files where some sounds are aliased to the default MSTS GP38 sounds. The sound files needing some editing are:
- cc65500cab.sms, and
- cc65500eng.sms
After opening each in WordPad you'll see that some of the GP38 WAV files are already prefixed with ../../GP38/Sound/ so copy and paste this string to those GP38 WAVs that still need it.
As you scroll around you'll notice that WAV files such as x_couple_auto1.wav and couple_auto1.wav are prefixed; they don't need to be as there part of MSTS' default Sound folder - the path names can be safely deleted.
