• <29-Oct-2006>: News from web•TrainSim is a bit like the rain around where he lives - very little of it! For the record, October could total about 2 mm and on top of not much in September and Aurgust, the east coast of Australia and Western Australia are experiencing the worst drought in the last 100 years. So here are some snippets of MSTS news and once web•TrainSim's annual exam supervision period is over, he'll be back into things, particularly catching up on his Wupper Express activities. By the way, he's been busy, especially writing up Windows Live services that his adult classes (the webDotWizards) can make use of.

  • New Australian route by Russell Beer, the New South Wales Great Southern Mainline Route, from Harden south to Kapooka (near Wagga Wagga) via Cootamundra, about 170 km in length. Download as one large file, AU_nswGreatSouthern_MSTS1_Setup.exe (151Mb, 15-Oct-06), or in more mangeable chuncks for those without broadband, AU_nswGreatSouthern_in_parts_MSTS1_Setup.exe (38Mb, 15-Oct-06), AU_nswGreatSouthern_in_parts_MSTS1_Setup.D01 (38Mb, 15-Oct-06), AU_nswGreatSouthern_in_parts_MSTS1_Setup.D02 (38Mb, 15-Oct-06), AU_nswGreatSouthern_in_parts_MSTS1_Setup.D03 (38Mb, 15-Oct-06), AU_nswGreatSouthern_in_parts_MSTS1_Setup.D04 (38Mb, 15-Oct-06). Xtracks version 3.17 or later and NewRoads version 3.2 are required.
  • After four years of MSTS, the Obo's MSTS Loco Catalogue now contains 3,000 entries - the announcment is here on the Train-sim forums.
  • Bob Boudoin (plainsman) has a ton of patience - to a certain extent after all the work he's done over the years - with those loco creators who are still using out-of-date parameters in ENGine files - see his post about the Guilford Rail GP35 physics which is a friendly reminder.
  • Mike Simpson has updated Route Riter to version 6.4.41 with many new and updated features for route builders in particular.
  • ConBuilder is no longer a free utility for MSTS but there is a beta/trial version of CBLite for making consists (it's only function). See the ConBuilder homepage.
  • The Graphics15 team have an updated pack of activities for Wupper Express 10.1.
