<12-Mar-2007>: Some downloads and a note from the wDTS Oops Department:
- webDotTrainSim noticed the following at the Train-sim.com library:
- For installation help, see Steve Hanlo's 1.x Install Guide for Everyone, guide.zip (64kb, 16-Feb-2007) and Steven Logiudice's Train Simulator Train Installer, tsti.zip (61kb, 06-Mar-2007).
- There are a couple of Canadian routes:
- Chemins du Quebec, quebec.rar (64Mb, 09-Feb-2007) and upgrade quebec1a.zip (132kb, 11-Feb-2007).
- Goderich Exeter Railway (GEXR), gexr.zip (157Mb, 08-Mar-2007) and update, gexrfix1.zip (10Mb, 10-Mar-2007).
- Route Riter has been updated to version 6.4.82, RRit6_4_82upd.zip (1.0Mb, 05-Mar-2007), for those running version 6.4.76 or later. If you are using an earlier version of RR, you'll need the extra files in download RRit_ExtraFiles_pre76.zip (1.05Mb, 05-Mar-2007).
- You've probably found the photos of the re-build of the Napier Deltic engine at Definitive Deltics (www.55s.co.uk) but if you haven't had a look, choose the Technology link from the menu on the left of the site and you'll see photos from the time the engine was pulled down, repaired and rebuilt.
- The wDTS Oops Department has to apologise for not closely watching webDotTrainSim delete his mail. Before we could stop him, he accidently deleted an email from somebody asking about Marias 3.1 so we ask if the writer could be kind enough to post again. This time we'll be more careful to make sure webDotTrainSim's brain works faster than his delete key.
<05-Mar-2007>: Some important and very useful updates to Mike Simpson's Route Riter, MSTS' Aid to Survival and Innovation, and some interesting downloads:
- Mike has upgraded RR to version 6.4.80, RRit6_4_80upd.zip (2.21Mb, 03-Mar-2007), and it can be downloaded from his page at Steam4Me. However Mike has made further changes - see his post to the Train-sim.com forum - and the updates he mentions in that post can be found on his own site. These updates relate primarily to Mike's work on providing the facility within RR to update our rolling stock with correct coupler parameters. As well, Turbo Bill explains how RR determines which parameter set to use depending on some characteristics of each type of rolling stock.
- The Train-sim.com library has a large range of South African Railways rolling stock by Johan Pretorius, including an update of the prestigious Blue Train, sar_bl2x.zip (8.4Mb, 03-Mary-2007). As well there are:
- Dwight Mitchell's DDA40X and DD35 cabs: dd40xcab.zip (4.2Mb, 24-Feb-2007) and dd35cab.zip (4.5Mb, 24-Feb-2007).
- Bill Hobbs' Steam Worksheets, steam20.zip (183kb, 28-Feb-2007), Coupler Calculator, coupler.zip (95kb, 28-Feb-2007), and Calculation Tools, 3tools.zip (294kb, 28-Feb-2007).
- Mike Lewis has repainted the free Dash-9 from Maple Leaf Tracks into two different liveries: bnsfpwer.zip (7.6Mb, 01-Mar-2007) and bnsfnew2.zip (4.3Mb, 02-Mar-2007)
- For some history, J Bilton has modelled that most famous of U.K. diesel-electric locos, the Deltic, ee_dp1.zip (3.6Mb, 01-Mar-2007). The Deltic Preservation Society has plenty of Deltic history, see how the Napier triangular opposed cylinder engine works in this animation, and, of course one has to mention Captain Deltic himself who has his own site (U.K. railway news and commentary). As well, there's the Napier Deltic manual to peruse (and wonder at). Last but not least, years ago there were a set of Deltic sounds at UKTrainsim.com (sorry, webDotTrainSim has lost the download details). As a young lad, webDotTrainSim well remembers the Commer Knocker trucks of the '50s (they had a 4-cylinder opposed engine) so to get the real sound of the 18 cylinder in the Napier Deltic, keep an eye (ear?) out for the loco sounds at UKTrainsim.com.
